Potential Reciprocal Tariff Impacts on products offered by QuiltSource Canada

March 12/2025

WHERE ARE WE NOW ?

As many of you already know, Canada has responded to the Trump administration tariffs with 2 sets of reciprocal tariffs on USA made products entering Canada.

The first tranche of reciprocal tariffs was implemented March 4.

At that point, no products offered by QuiltSource Canada were listed.

The second tranche of reciprocal tariffs are expected early April, many if not all of QuiltSource Canada's USA made products may be included.

Currently this listing includes but not limited to USA made

Cotton Fabric, Cotton Thread,
Foam Stabilizer, Fusible Interfacing,
Polyester Thread, Quilt Batting,
Quilt Patterns, Quilt Stencils,
Sewing Machines,
Sewing Notions,
Softcover Books, Stabilizers,
Zippers

This listing can be reviewed and commented upon for 21 days on the Canada Revenue Agency website prior to tariffs taking effect.

We actively encourage you as an industry participant to review and comment to the Canada Revenue Agency on potential impacts to your business.

It is important to note that these reciprocal tariffs are not applicable to Non USA Products transshipped thru the USA.

WHAT IS QUILTSOURCE CANADA DOING ?

We are strategically realigning and undergoing product adjustments based on the current intelligence sabbatical in America.

What does this mean going forward?

We are working with domestic and international suppliers to provide alternatives to many products that have been impacted by the current Trump Administration Tariffs.

We will continue to carry selected products from our American suppliers, and we are actively working with them to minimize the impacts to Canadian consumers.

Any goods that are physically in our warehouse before the tariffs take effect, will not be subject to tariff increases.

Price amendments will then be rolled out on  a case by case basis as goods are acquired and offered.

Currently, select USA made products are not listed on our website. This is due to the uncertainty surrounding pricing and material availability.

Once we have received confirmation from our suppliers about the future of these products and pricing, they will be shown as available.

OUR FINAL THOUGHTS ...

While QuiltSource Canada strongly opposes these deplorable actions being taken by the Trump Administration, we understand that there are products used in our industry that are made in the USA.

We are doing everything within our power and working with our team of domestic and international suppliers to minimize the impacts to our amazing customers.

We will continue to remain transparent about our ongoing response to the current situation and want to help small Canadian Businesses not only survive but prosper.
